HERE IS A WAY TO CONTACT YOUR LEGISLATOR WITH A CUSTOM MESSAGE:

This is from Let's Address Illinois:

As of now, SAFE Illinois believes there are just enough votes to pass the RIFL Act in both chambers of the Illinois State Legislature. However, that means there is still a risk of the bill not passing when it hits the floor. We need your help to push the RIFL Act across the finish line.

Would you take a few moments to contact your State Representative and State Senator? It’s super simple. Simply click here and select Illinois.

First, enter your address.

The Hilltop App should bring up your respective legislators.

Then, write a custom message such as:  “I want my Illinois state legislators to support the Responsibility in Firearm Legislation (RIFL) Act (HB 3320 / SB2279). Gun manufacturers should pay for the costs of gun violence, rather than Illinois taxpayers. Write my state legislators a letter asking them to co-sponsor and vote for the RIFL Act.”

Hilltop will then generate a letter to send to your legislators.

If you like the letter, click ‘Submit,’ which will take you to the next page to enter your contact information.

Then click ‘Submit’ one more time. Using this method, we leverage Hilltop’s AI features to generate a unique letter that allows us to breakthrough censors and email blockers, ensuring your message reaches your legislators.

Alternatively, you can also use the RIFL Coalition’s Hilltop App to write letters to your state legislators. We at Let’s Address Illinois will not be offended if you use their link instead.

Additionally, you can also visit your legislators district office on any Monday in May to speak with them about supporting the RIFL Act. While you’re there, keep your message simple. Remember, they work for you.

Ask Rep. Morgan and Sen. Harmon to advance the bill

Last, if you can, please call on Illinois State Representative Bob Morgan and Illinois State Senator and Senate President Don Harmon to advance the RIFL Act out of committee as soon as humanly possible.

Thank you for continuing to stand for human rights and civil rights across Illinois.
