MIGRA WATCH TRAININGS

At times, We Can Lead Change may need members to act quickly in response to urgent situations, such as ICE sightings or community crises. To be included in these rapid response efforts, volunteers must be trained in proper response behavior.

We Can Lead Change will host two Migra Watch trainings led by experts from the Illinois Coalition for Immigrant and Refugee Rights (ICIRR). These trainings prepare community members to safely monitor and document ICE and Customs and Border Patrol (CBP) activities, support impacted families, and connect individuals with legal or crisis resources.

Migra Watch volunteers help by:

  • Monitoring and documenting ICE/CBP operations

  • Responding to hotline calls

  • Alerting the community to active enforcement activity

  • Connecting families with legal aid

  • Accompanying individuals to immigration-related appointments

Why it matters: Migra Watch protects immigrant communities, holds enforcement agencies accountable, and helps slow down the “deportation machine.”

We will be vetting who signs up. You should be aware of your emotions and patience levels. This is action that requires de-escalation skills and demeanor. If you don't think that you are capable of being calm in a tense situation, then please don't sign up. This is not the only action -- we have plenty of other things that we need to do!!

If you are interested in being a volunteer, please sign up for one of the trainings here:
