STOP THE BALLROOM BRIBERY
TAKE ACTION – WRITE ILLINOIS US LEGISLATORS
Trump’s ballroom project is a disaster.
​
He damaged White House property without proper congressional approval and accepted money from wealthy donors and influence seekers without meaningful oversight. Although Trump promised taxpayers would not pay for the ballroom, reporting now shows taxpayer funds are being used for major costs connected to the project.
​
Senator Elizabeth Warren and Representative Robert Garcia introduced the Stop the Ballroom Bribery Act to address these concerns. The bill would ban conflicted donations, require transparency, stop anonymous giving, prevent donor recognition, and create enforcement tools to prevent pay-to-play corruption.
​
So far, only three Illinois members of Congress have signed on: Senator Tammy Duckworth, Representative Raja Krishnamoorthi, and Representative Danny Davis.
​
We encourage you to contact the other Illinois members of Congress and ask them to support the Stop the Ballroom Bribery Act. You can use the letter below, call their offices, or email your representatives.
​
This is one more way to demand transparency, oversight, and an end to corruption and misuse of taxpayer dollars.
