ELECTION INFORMATION

⚠️ Important:

New USPS Postmark Rule Could Affect Deadlines

A recent change in how the U.S. Postal Service applies postmarks means that the date stamped on your mail may no longer reflect the day you dropped it off.

This affects vote-by-mail ballots - but also can impact:

  • 🗳️ Ballots and election materials

  • 🧾 Tax returns and payments

  • 📄 Legal filings, court documents, and appeals

  • 🏛️ Government forms, license renewals, and benefit applications

If something must be “postmarked by” a deadline, mailing it at the last minute is now riskier.

Protect yourself:

  • Mail important items several days early, or

  • Take them to the post office counter and ask for a hand-canceled postmark or proof of mailing.

Please plan ahead — this small change could have big consequences if a deadline is missed.
